Eva Therapy Service Referrals Are Currently CLOSED
Vida have developed and delivered specialist domestic and sexual abuse services for many years. We now focus our service delivery on recovery and empowerment work with women and girls.
Purpose
We are a specialist trauma-focused and gender sensitive therapy service for women and girls whose mental health is affected by previous experiences of abuse and trauma. See below for details.
Our Service
We have developed a pathway of interventions through our service which includes several group work programmes and a choice of 1:1 trauma focused Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy and EMDR, these are evidence based treatments recommended in the NICE Guidelines for Domestic Abuse] or integrative counselling.
Ethical framework
Vida are accredited with the BACP and we work within the BACP & BABCP current Ethical Framework. A number of therapists are accredited with either the BACP, BABCP or NCPS. See our Ethical Statement link at the bottom of this page for more detail.
Limits to confidentiality
We will sometimes have to pass on information to others (e.g. Police, Social Services), where failure to do so could be illegal or would pose a threat to the safety of yourself, your children and others. See our Privacy & Confidentiality Statement link at the bottom of this page for more detail.
Our work
We take a phase based approach to working therapeutically with clients – the first phase is about helping clients to manage the distress they experience by learning about different coping strategies, gaining tools for emotional regulation and importantly learning about the impacts of abuse and trauma and the ‘Brain Science’ of trauma responses. The second phase is working at a deeper level and emotionally processing trauma memories and their impacts. The final phase is helping clients to ‘reclaim their lives’ and move forward towards the life they want to live, free from abuse, fear and anxiety.
